Physical Behaviours
in Autism and ADHD
This session explores why physical behaviours occur in autistic and ADHD individuals. It explores executive functioning, emotional processing and unmet proprioceptive need and how these things can often result in more snap emotions, physical behaviours, explosive meltdowns, and harm to oneself and the environment.
By completing this CPD session, participants will demonstrate that they can:
Understand physical behaviour as a sign of communication and unmet needs.
Recognise the emotional, cognitive, and sensory drivers behind physical behaviours.
Learn from lived experience from adults who had a high degree of physical behaviours and what strategies they use in adulthood.
Understand how the environment influences behaviour.
Learn practical strategies to support learning, reduce distress, and reduce physical behaviours over time.

This training provides up to 2 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and is suitable for professionals working in education, health, care, and corporate settings.
