What is a
Learning Disability?
This session explores what a learning disability is and how it affects communication, independence, and access. It examines barriers, attitudes, and responsibilities, alongside inclusive approaches that promote dignity and autonomy.
This training is aimed to give a broad overview of learning disability with a focus on health and social care training settings. It covers many of the same areas as mandatory health and social care training in a condensed form.
By completing this CPD session, participants will demonstrate that they can:
Understand what a learning disability is.
Understand impacts on communication and independence.
Recognise common misconceptions and barriers faced in society.
Understand the impact of inaccessible information and how to adapt communication.
Understand legal and ethical responsibilities around capacity and consent.

This training provides 2-3 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and is suitable for professionals working in education, health, care, and corporate settings.
